Hi reddit!
For the last month or so my neighbour has been putting a traffic cone at the end of our cul-de-sac and it's driving me mad!
For context, the road is a rough track covered with gravel, not a tarmac road and no pavement. It is unknown who owns the road - some of the residents tried to find out as they wanted to road to be tarmacked to improve house prices. When they couldn't find out who it belonged to, they dumped a load of gravel on it themselves! This neighbour lives at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, and his address is actually on the main road, not the cul-de-sac itself, so it's certainly not his road. He has no drive, so he parks his cars at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, which runs parallel to his garden (illustrated in the diagram by the red blocks!). We are in England.
He has (randomly) started putting a cone about 1/4 of the way across from the edge of the road. For a month or so it was in position 1, now it's moved to position 2 on the other side of the road. The road is fairly unlevel, but the cone is not blocking a pot hole or serving any obvious purpose. I've taken to moving it to the edge of the road, but neighbour puts it back every evening when he gets back from work.
Aside from being a pain in the arse, having to drive around this cone everyday when going in/ out, it's obstructing the road for larger vehicles - I.e. the bin men or a fire engine.
Is there anyone I can report this to? He's not the most approachable man to discuss this with, nor do I want to start a cone war with said man! I hope the crappy diagram illustrates the issue!
