Hi everyone,
I’ve received an email that says that
“I am currently investigating suspected waste offence(s) at XXXXXX, EN2 which consisted of Cardboard box.
As part of the investigation; evidence containing your name and address was found amongst the waste. Please see the attached photographs, Exhibit SG01-SG02.
If you respond to the questions, it will be on the basis that you are voluntarily agreeing to be interviewed by written correspondence under caution and in according with the Codes of Practice under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. If you would prefer to be….
I must inform you that if you do not respond we may issue you with a Fixed Penalty Noice requiring you to pay up to £1000 based on the information we have.”
The attached photographs is a picture of the box being located near some large trolley bins with a postage label on it with my name and address.
Whilst I don’t remember the exact box, I was redoing my house (steaming/scraping/sanding/painting the walls) and we had a lot of cardboard boxes, and other stuff that we left in our garden. We live in a corner house so we had the garden door open and we had someone ask if they could take our cardboard boxes. At the time, we didn’t really know if anything could go wrong since it seemed harmless so we just handed them all the boxes and some other small stuff.
Whilst I don’t remember giving him the exact box, it’s the only thing that comes to mind. Any tips would be grateful before I start filling out the questions and sending back!
