I moved out of my flat(London, England) on 31st of January and sent my landlady the photos of the room I was renting to show that everything is left in good condition as the landlady doesn’t live in UK. The deposit wasn’t under the TDS scheme but she mentioned multiple times via messages that I will receive the deposit once I move out. I have tried contacting her twice since moving out to remind her to send me the deposit and I have not received any response from her.
Is there anything or anyone I can ask for help as I am really short with cash and I haven’t been living in uk that long(that’s basically why I didn’t know about TDS and just assumed that my deposit will be returned once I move out presumably that everything is left in good condition. Thank you all in advance!
EDIT: thank you all so much, you have been very encouraging! I already assumed that I will never get that money back, but you all gave me lot of hope. Like I said, I don't only care about the money at this point; it's just purely mean thing to do. I have been a great tenant, no complaints from housemates or neigbhours, not a single day that I was late. I had to move out due to personal circumstances and she always assured me that she has no problem with returning my deposit back as I was the one showing the room and helped her rent it out so that she wouldn't lose any money on me leaving. I feel much better about this all now knowing there is a big chance of me getting my money back.
Thank you all so much!
