I recently parked in a car park at 4am to go gym, there was no signage apart from a big 2 hour maximum stay sign in bold writing when I arrived, each time I stuck to the allotted time. However 2 weeks later I received 7x £100 fines (£60 if you pay earlier), for parking outside of hours. I appealed and explained that I had gone to gym (uploaded gym app times visited) and that I’d not out stayed the time.
If you look at the small writing on the parking conditions it does say no parking before 9am, however it was 4am when I arrived (dark) and it was not on displayed like the time was at the entrance, which I feel is like a trap for people parking there as there was other cars when I arrived. They accepted the appeal however saying I had to pay a reduced fee of £20 per fine. But that’s still £140 that I can’t afford. There is an option to take it further and appeal it, but if I lose it I’ll have to pay the full £700 which like monopoly would bankrupt me, so not sure what to do. I don’t know if they because they accepted the reduced fee that means I may win the appeal, and they’re just trying to get some money out of me? - I did read something on a post that signs & conditions should be clearly stated, but I’m not versed with this side of the law and am really unsure of how to proceed
