Laptop guarantee void due to unauthorised reseller?

Post Body

Hi all. Quick question guarantee related in case anyone knows the answer ๐Ÿ˜€ I purchased (I am in England) 6 months ago a gaming laptop, brand new from a reseller on eBay. The laptop arrived sealed in the original package.

Unfortunately the motherboard died a few days ago, so I contacted the manufacturer to action the warranty.

Manufacturer decline the request on the basis that I didnโ€™t use one of their authorised reseller.

The question is simple, canโ€™t they void the warranty on that basis? Seems a bit strange to me (by the way, the product was registered on the manufacturer website the day I received the laptop)

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks in advance!

It's something you've got to be very wary of, ASUS are super strict about this as an example and will basically ignore you if you haven't gotten it from an authorised retailer.
