Post Body

Hello,

I live in a shared house with 3 other people on an assured shorthold tenancy of 1 year periods. I have lived in this house for a year already, and with my new contract the letting agency is trying to pass responsibility for council tax on to the tenants, where this was not the case before.

Everywhere I have read says that in my living situation the landlord is responsible for council tax, and nowhere has suggested that this can be overriden by the terms of a contract. I would just like to check that this is definitely the case? To be absolutely certain of who is responsible.

And, if it is indeed the responsibility of the landlord, where should I go to formally dispute this?
