Can someone refuse to pay the car dealer if they haven’t fixed the car problem ?

Hello guys ,
I would appreciate anyone’s advice regarding when you take your car to be fixed at the authorised brand dealer e.g Ford, if they mentioned that they suspect a part is faulty and they need to fix it then retest .. I approved the repair because I had no other choice.. and its an expensive repair.. so I was just wondering if the problem persists after they re-test the car, should I still pay them the cost of repair or not ? considering they diagnosed it wrongly ?
