Dutch/British Citizenship Post-Brexit

Post Body

Hi all,

I'm asking in behalf of my partner who doesn't use reddit much.

She is a Dutch/British dual national (Dutch since birth - born in Netherlands - Dutch mother) but has lived in the UK for many years.

As far as we can understand, a Dutch person with another citizenship only retains their Dutch citizenship if they spend at least a year either in Netherlands or in the EU within a 10 year period.

Presumably, that 10 year period starting ticking down when the UK left the EU. So she will still definitely be Dutch when her passport is due for renewal in a few years time, but what actually happens when either that 10 year period is up or when she goes to attempt to renew her passport the following time?

We might find somewhere to settle in the EU for a while, but knowledge is always good.

Can someone point us in a direction other than the Dutch consulate website?

Many thanks!
