When Ariel dies, Kain is born as the succesor. Kain says "as Ariel dies, I am being born to take her place as balance guardian. Such is my destiny". From this I understand that as a guardian dies, another is born as a succesor. (Similar to Avatar The Legend of Aang). So, when Kain is assassinated in Blood Omen, why is there no new succesor being born? Mortanius has enough time to revive Kain using the heart of darkness, whereas Kain was born the instant Ariel dies. Could there be another balance guardian lingering around?

The other issue I have is: in Soul Reaver, Kain has destroyed the pillars. Given that the pillars are the seal which stops the Hylden from entering the world (physically or in soul?) why is there no presence of the Hylden in those timelines?
