Relocating Melbourne to Leeds

My partner and I are wishing to leave Melbourne and relocate to Leeds, this will be in the future (perhaps next year) , but we will be planning a trip to the area this year to see what's up.

Some questions though, I am Transgender so would be needing an area which is ok with that, and one hopefully that has other LGBT friendly people about. As far as crime goes, I'd like to feel safe enough, but we are moving from one of Melbourne's worst suburbs, so I guess everywhere has its fair share of that.

Any help anyone could give would be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
