Leather type identification
Post Body

Hello, I recently purchased a jewellery box that was sold as faux croc leather, however it came with a manufacturer sticker stating it was handcrafted walnut wood and leather. It also smells of natural leather, but perhaps less strongly than other leather I have owned. I have attached some photos, including one showing an area of damage which feels very rough and perhaps fibrous and one image that tries to show the back of the leather (I know this one is poor). Would anyone be able to help identify if this is natural or faux leather please? Thank you so much in advance for any help at all :)

Comments

Imo it looks like the typical faux crocodile leather you saw a lot of in the 70s and 80s.
