I've been reading here and watching videos for how to sew keepers and it's all been helpful. I know that I can hand-sew the keeper loop or I can staple it, and then sew or rivet it into place on the belt. Cool beans.
Only in my case, I'm making small dog collars, so I'm using 3/4 weight 1/2" strips for the keeper loops. No problems except that the loop is so small it's a bit hard to handle. (I'm using 6/7 weight 1/2" wide strips for the collar itself.)
I just did a prototype where I sewed the loop and it was tricky. So now I'm thinking.... staples? With leather strips this fine and narrow is there a staple tool that fits in the tiny loop? The inside circumference of the loop is slightly more than 1/2". I can fit a fingertip in it.
Thoughts? (Oh to be clear what I'm thinking is to sew/staple the loop, rivet the buckle on the collar, slide the keeper on, and then place another rivet to hold it in place. So the keeper itself needs to already be a sewn/stapled loop, and that's the tricky part.
