I'm not a crafty person at all, meaning that when I attempt to do crafts my end result usually looks awful. Having said that, there are some things that I can do - I'm not completely inept, just not talented. I am working on having a new product developed for my retail store that is plastic but has leather straps. Right now I'm working with a 3D printer locally to see if they can print the plastic component for a reasonable price. But I still need to figure out what to do about the leather straps.
I have a similar item that I have them using as a model (size is the main difference). On those the leather straps are riveted on, so there's no stitching needed. They're also thin, lightweight leather straps with a small buckle on one side. I was doing some preliminary web searches to find leatherworkers near me, but then it occurred to me that maybe I could do this myself since it's only rivets. Could I find a supplier for the straps, rivets and buckles, buy myself a rivet tool and punch and do it myself?
If it helps, I can attach a link to a photo, but didn't want to do that in the OP and look like a spammer. I'm in northern Virginia.
