Hey!
I've been trying to get good at applying edge kote, but Im unsure what to do with the final layer of edge kote. it will be nice and shiny but very tacky to the touch. Even after several days of drying.
My process has been:
- Sand edges to level,
- Thin layer of edge kote,
- Wait a day,
- sand 400 grit,
- thicker but not quite a bead,
- wait a day,
- repeat until several times until it looks good in coverage and levelness,
- Apply a edge kote bead,
- wait a day
Then Ive tried to buff/burnish with canvas, cotton, wood burnisher, several combinations of tokonole, beeswax, parafin wax etc. Ive also tried 800 grit before and after or instead of 400 and it doesnt seem to make a lot of difference.
The reason I've been waiting a whole day inbetween is to make sure its dry but I could probably cut that down to an hour max right?
It all ends up just really dull or if I just leave the bead, it will be shiny but tacky.
I don't really have a way to apply heat other than canvas burnishing as I cant afford a heated edge creaser.
Im considering getting other edge paint but its quite pricy and shipping is nuts right now in EU.
Could someone point out where I might be going wrong?
