What is the best finish for dyed straps?

Post Body
I've been buying undyed veg-tan strips to make straps for items that I sell. I cut them to my needs, punch, oil and dye. Then I do my best to buff off the excess dye, but there seems to still be enough that touching the straps gets black marks on your skin and customers complain.
I tried Tan Kote, but I use 3/4 weight leather and felt that the Tan Kote made the straps too stiff. Is there another product I can use to seal the dye so that it doesn't rub off?
