Adverb and Verb Placement

Hello fellow Russian learners!

I'm having difficulty understanding a certain grammatical rule (or rather, lack thereof) when it comes to ad/verb placement. I understand that Russian is pretty flexible when it comes to word placement, given that cases do much of the work when determining the meaning of a phrase. However, I'm more so looking for what is more natural in day-to-day speech.

In my RUS 1101 class, I have been taught that it is most natural to place the adverb before the verb in a question response. However, in a YouTube instructional video shared with my class, the adverb comes AFTER the verb.

Heres an example:

What my Russian proff. states:

Statement: Oна хорошо говорит (adverb before verb).

What YouTube says:

Statement: Oна говорит по-русски очень хорошо (adverb after the verb).

So, which is it? Does it truly matter the positioning? What is more natural for the average Russian speaker? Thank you in advance!
