Genki w/out a Partner?

I've started genki, and I like it. The problem is it assumes you have a partner next to you whenever you study. I am self-learner, so this is one of the only gripes I have with the book. I would do them myself, but many are fundamentally crafted in a way you can't do them yourself. I'm going to be skipping a lot. How much is this going to hurt?
