Should I learn kanji separately?
Post Body

I'm at a level somewhere between beginner and intermediate in my studies. My question is whether I should make a concerted effort to learn kanji (meaning and readings for jƍyƍ kanji) separately from learning vocabulary, or if I should just learn the kanji as I acquire new words.

I know that knowledge of kanji would help guess at the meanings of words I may come across, but do you more learned folks reckon this advantage is worth the effort of learning over 2000 characters?

(Bear in mind I'm also learning 3 other languages, so I have to divide my time wisely when studying.)
