TL:DR: Unsure whether to upgrade from Beginner Acoustic or invest in a new Amp for Electric.
Hello everyone! I’m new to this community and wanted to see if veteran guitarists might be able to help with my undecided conflicted choice.
Backstory: I picked up learning the guitar back in 2020 during the pandemic. My wife played guitar in high school about 15 years ago and I was able to convince her to keep her starter gear over the years so I started learning on her Junior Acoustic Guitar, and her Epiphone Les Paul Special-II E1 Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst and Line 6 Spider IV 30 Amp. All very entry level equipment, but this is a hobby for me, not planning on playing any gigs. After playing and getting better over the last 3 years, I would like to upgrade some equipment slowly, however I don’t know where to begin…
Now: I have a budget of up to $650.00, and I don’t know whether to upgrade my Acoustic, Electric, or Amp. Originally, I was looking at upgrading my amp to the Boss Katana MK II Ex. But I also love playing Acoustic as well, and I know upgrading this would do wonders for the sound and feel compared to the beginner one I am currently using.
What I enjoy playing: Alternative/Punk/Metal Rock – Green day, Foo Fighters, Bush, Sum 41, Weezer, Nirvana, Metallica, AC/DC, Disturbed.. and when it comes to acoustic, I play county and some rock songs like Oasis, Radiohead, Foo Fighters.
What do you all recommend starting with, especially for a self-taught novice?
