Post Body

I’ve been a model aeroplane kit builder since I was a kid and I first got into 40K in high school with 3rd ed Catachans, took a break until 7th ed dabbling with Tau, and now I’m back (for real?) with an embryonic League inspired by the dwarves of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings.

I was first made aware of the LoV in May when, to distract me from an upcoming dental surgery, my girlfriend and I went into a Warhammer store - my first time - and had a great experience with the guy working there. He gave me the Cadian Mini of the Month to assemble and kindly offered my choice of another from the previous MotMs…and so I discovered that Squats were once more official, and one followed me home.

For my birthday this week I got myself the combat patrol, and a second-hand Codex and another 10 NOS Warriors from a Facebook trader (who also included a sealed pack of Datacards). I’m working on assembling and basecoating everyone and have the 40K paint and tool set due to arrive tomorrow.

This subreddit has been a great inspiration and I want to thank everyone for sharing info, advice and their minis so freely. I’m excited to get more and get back into the game after about a decade away.

I realise now showing a photo of black basecoated minis isn’t terribly exciting 😂 but I wanted to get in on the fun!
