Full match day on Friday on the second day of the World Cup, what were organisers thinking?

I can't think of one good reason as to why the League of Ireland has to clash with the world cup. There are 2-3 big matches in the league on Friday and they'll clash with 3 WC games, including Holland vs Spain. why not have them on Saturday/Sunday afternoon? Attendances will be shite anyway.
