I’ve found myself in a position of leadership for the last two years remotely due to disability. My team is entirely onsite and although I come in about once a month I’m learning that it is really hard to keep the culture in place.
I’m having a hard time getting my team to understand and also getting upper management to understand the problem. I feel that being offsite has really undercut my ability to be an effective leader - I can’t change patterns or redirect lines of thinking outside of one on ones and team meetings.
How do remote managers do this effectively?
I’m pretty sure it may be time for me to leave the company because I just can’t be effective.
