Layoff/Termination Letter Required?

TL;DR - In the US, as the title, are companies required to provide a letter saying you are laid off for tax purposes?

Lost my job last month (Feb 9) as a contractor to a consultancy but still can log on to payroll with only last pay of January 25, 2024. I am just curious because I am wondering how my tax for next year will go when my last pay is for Dec 1-15 pay period and they havenโ€™t paid yet Dec 16 up to last day of employment. Am I still expecting a w2 from my old employer for 2024 tax?
