Hey all, thanks for taking the time to read this- I know it's Bar season and good luck to all those studying for and taking it this year. Anyway, for any of the Canadian Redditors, or any Americans who have looked into it, I'm looking for any advice or information on how I could apply to and attend law school in Canada rather than the US, especially any input on how to finance it. I've looked online and there's not a great deal of info out there which is leading me to wonder if it's even really feasible. Most of the only info deals with people who want to practice in the US after attending school in Canada much like med students do after studying in the Caribbean, which isn't what I'm after. If I could do it I would plan on staying in Canada permanently to practice (if I could find a job), so I'm not worried about the transfer of the degree back to the US. I've had a desire to emigrate to Canada for a while, and if I could meld that with my future plans on becoming an attorney that would be fantastic.
I'm not sure if it matters but I'm 28, and have about a year and a half left on my undergrad in Political Science with a 3.79 GPA, and haven't taken the LSATs yet. My main concern would be how to finance it since everything I know about paying for school is from the US government- I financed my own undergrad solely through myself and government loans, and not sure if I could do the same at a Canadian school. If any other Americans have done this I'd love to hear your story as well- not even just about financing it, but applying, matriculating, the whole deal. Thanks in advance Reddit!
