I'm a solo real estate and business attorney. I started taking on some litigation matters for existing clients to help them out. I don't mind doing litigation but I've found my clients have very unrealistic expectations on my turn around time for the initial complaint. They seem to expect answers within a few days and a lawsuit filed almost immediately. I find myself repeatedly explaining to them that I have to research their issue and it takes time to craft a complaint. A couple of them are basically calling me every day looking for an update of what I'm doing for their case today. I'm trying very hard to keep my cool, but they are getting annoying and demanding.
For those of you who primarily do litigation, what do you tell your clients during the research and complaint drafting stage?
