This isn't public info anywhere so it should be posted somewhere.
The convicted elder abuser Connor Cochran is STILL using Peter Beagle's work to deceive people for his own benefit, even after losing lawsuits and his business.
State Judge Awards Peter S. Beagle $332K in Damages
Cochran is doing it with The Last Unicorn Movie page on Facebook which he controls, and almost 200,000 followers don't know it.
What's the whole story again?
It started with Peter Beagle's ordeal of being screwed for his rights with the Last Unicorn movie in the 1980's, "rescue" by new manager Cochran in the 00's, then a double-screw of Beagle and fans and investors and others owed by Cochran behind the front of support.
Cochran put Beagle through this:
- Defaming Beagle as senile as soon as Beagle started asking about his money and talking to a lawyer, even trying to make fake medical evidence.
- Suing Beagle's lawyer in retaliation to being sued, losing and owing judgement for it.
- Countersuing Beagle and losing.
- Colluding with Beagle's children to try taking his rights away with conservatorship, until their own lawyer told them to stop and made sure their case died.
- Being sued by investors of the TLU movie tour he ran.
- Going bankrupt to dodge paying back profit that was supposedly gained for Beagle, but used for himself. That included hundreds of thousands of movie settlement dollars meant to compensate Beagle, and all the fan support flowing into his pocket.
- Being dumped as a client by 5 lawyers, defending himself in court and losing to Beagle.
Cochran still plays the only guy who never did anything wrong in all the lost cases. It is classic gaslighting against anyone who isn't extremely on guard for it.
It continues in this week's deceptive TLU movie page posting.
Posts by page owner / Archive / Screenshot / (and yes it is Connor Cochran posting this):
in 2003 someone else took up the fight on Peter's behalf, and aggressively went after the film's current owner to make them honor the contract. That struggle took this person more than eight years, but in early 2011 he and his team succeeded when top management at ITV plc reviewed all the documents and records, decided that Peter HAD been cheated, and agreed to treat him right. As part of the deal they paid a VERY healthy settlement which definitely covered those decades of previously unpaid royalties. ITV also started paying new royalties on schedule (which it has done steady as clockwork ever since). And they helped Peter in all sorts of other ways, including the screening rights support that made THE LAST UNICORN Screening Tour possible (which is how the film got to you in Edmonton, Maria). So it was a happy ending on that one.
The "HAPPY ENDING" of this sweet lie cuts short before Beagle sued him in 2015. There's no happy ending because Cochran's bankruptcy left nothing to pay $332K in damages he owed.
So what does Cochran get out of lying to 200,000 people on the TLU movie page? Sale of Beagle's work had to end, so there must be no legal action to take, if he simply omits the truth and doesn't outright defame Beagle to damage him (again.) Assume it's P.R. for himself, ego tripping and holding power over Beagle's legacy through family members who may benefit from it.
Don't stop with looking at Beagle because even more seniors are at risk. Beagle wasn't the first or last victim.
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro
She had Cochran selling her goods at Worldcon 76 and his bankrupt business took in a truckload of her books. He's now calling himself her business manager on a Fancyclopedia page he edits. / Archive Check the edit history to see him erasing info about losing lawsuits.
It also says:
"in June 2020 he became Chief Creative Officer of Firebird Entertainment Ltd., a film and television production company."
The agent listed for the newly created company is the same person who backed his previous corporation that he used while he defrauded Beagle.
What's he going to do with it?
Look at a recent Facebook post from Chelsea Quinn Yarbro who appears to know enough about Cochran to oddly withhold names.
"As a quick update, my new publisher has spent the last two years getting back the rights to my backlist from various publishers so that most of my books, particularly Saint-Germain, Olivia and Madelaine, can be published under one umbrella in digital (and eventually print) editions. In addition to backlist, my new publisher will be publishing the new Saint-Germain novels Orphans of Memory (completed), Forgotten Gods (completed), and Treacherous Passage (in progress), as well as a new version of False Dawn, new Chesterton Holte mysteries (several completed and one in progress), and short story collections. Needless to say this has been a huge undertaking, and the pandemic has slowed down the process like it has for the entire publishing industry. As I have mentioned, the publisher is the one who sets the publication schedule and they are well aware and how eager you are to read new Saint-Germain adventures. I will report more on that when I can. Thank you for your continued interest and support. Chelsea Quinn Yarbro - Author"
It is interesting not to name the publisher isn't it, with those enticing plans. Before anyone comments about warning her, consider it deliberate. Elder abusers use all kinds of ways to gain trust.
Anyone under the influence of Connor Cochran should know the full story. 200,000 fans of the TLU movie page and who knows how many followers for Yarbro surely don't know. Hopefully they will find out.
