Those of you who've started a laser business, what steps did you take to make it legit?

I'm taking steps to begin my own laser business from home. Consider it a side hustle I'd like to eventually turn into my main hustle. I'm wondering, for those with experience with this, what steps did you need to take? I've called my city hall and they've sent me some paperwork to fill out. Do I need to start an LLC? Acquire business insurance? What types of things do I need to do to ensure I'm above board. I know I need to secure clientele and market myself, that's the part I feel I'm pretty good at. It's the legal mumbo jumbo I feel a little murky on. Maybe I shall cross post this this to r/legaladvice.
