Laser rot or faulty player?
Post Body

I have a Pioneer CLD-5201 that I bought used about two years ago. I watch a movie on it about once a month. I've picked up about 20 discs.

I've had this annoying problem with three different movies. Usually near the end of a side, the video will suddenly speed up, and will just continue sped up until the end of the side.

Any idea what's going on here? It doesn't seem to match descriptions I can find of what laser rot looks like. I found one forum thread about this issue, with one poster suggesting that it's a faulty pressing. But the fact that I have three discs with this issue tells me that either it's a problem with the player itself or I have exceedingly bad luck with faulty pressings.
