Area 15 & autism
Post Body

Hey y’all!

I’m planning a trip to Vegas (I have another post that explains that), and it was suggested that I check out area 15. I love arts and neon colors, so I’m drawn to the idea of it.

However I’m autistic.

I don’t do cafeterias, buffets, or break rooms because of all the smells. I don’t like crowds in confined spaces unless I’m against a wall and can see the exists. I don’t like to be touched, loud noises, or chemicals. I love watching colored lights, but strobe lights and faux smoke can be triggers. If there are too many sensory things in a room I have a very strong flight or freeze response.

I end up going to clubs and spending half the time outside in the smoking area, even though I don’t smoke.

This being said, I’ve adapted well. I’m a teacher. I go to theme parks. I go to the movies. I love traveling. I love clubbing. I find ways to enjoy myself, and cope when somethings too much.

I really want to see this place but I’m worried I might have a panic attack or waste the $$ I spend to get Into the attractions.

Wink world and meow Wolf’s YouTube videos give me anxiety, so that’s a pass lol.

I’m really interested in the Van Gogh exhibit, the VR, emporium, the drag show, particle quest, and of course the Resteraunt.

Does anyone have advice, or thoughts? Do you think certain parts are autism friendly? Or should I avoid it all together? Any thoughts on the specific attractions I named?

Thank y’all!
