Hello!
So, I have been interested in building my own lapidary saw as I don't have finances to buy one and it seems like a doable project considering what the actual guts of one consists of. I'm going to be aquiring this old homemade motor and belt driven arbor system once used for a pedestal grinder that runs perfectly still. I figure I can space the pulleys and belt as far apart needed to get the speed RPM needed for lapidary work, and then I could build a simple housing body for the saw where one of the arbor arms can go into to house the blade and install a blade guard over the blade with a water drip system running underneath.
Would anyone with more experience in this be able to chime in and help guide me towards good advice in what all I would need to modify this and how doable it is with this arbor system? Pictures of said arbor included below.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
