I wanted to investigate this claim as I've seen redditors screaming it. It likely comes from this article from the ndp which says "John Rustad couldn’t answer basic questions about the details of his healthcare plan, but his own documents reveal a plan for the biggest healthcare cut in BC’s history.
Buried on page 12 of Rustad’s background document is a plan to reduce healthcare spending from 12.5% of GDP to 11%. That’s a 12% cut – $4.1 billion."
The exact quote the NDP are referencing is this "Deloitte’s assessment of the Future of Healthcare projects that Canadian health spending as a percent of GDP will rise from 12.4% to 13.9% by 2040 if we continue on our current path. They estimate that reforms and modernization can bring about savings and reduce this to under 11% of GDP." This is taken from here
To me that sounds like he is planning reforms and modernization to bring savings rather than slashing the budget. If you read the entire document the BC Conservatives lay out several methods with how they plan to do so. I encourage everyone to read the document and make your own decisions.
Feel free to vote for whichever party you support. But try to avoid exaggeration, hyperbole, fearmongering, or complete lies please. The claim that the Conservatives are cutting healthcare based on this document appears to be as far fetched as the 5G will cause cancer or mind control or whatever that was. That isn't to say they may cut it, I am just pointing out the evidence isn't there based on the document the NDP referenced.
I honestly was quite impressed with how Rustad cites specific examples from Europe or other provinces. Lots of crazies in the Conservative party so I was expecting an incomprehensible mush. I suspect an academic (or several) gave input/wrote this. Many of the ideas seem plausible and may bring improvement to the system. I guess there really is a reason the BC Cons now have a chance at winning this thing despite running in a province that is quite left.
