In the past 3 or 4 days the landlord has been coming in the bathroom designated for my roommate and I. We share a house with the landlord and rent respective rooms. He keeps coming in and opening the bathroom window all the way. I talked to him in person about it and he says it smells musty and there's too much moisture in there. We have a fan in the ceiling that activates when the light gets turned on. I don't really smell anything or see much moisture. Last night I threw out a mop and I put a few air fresheners out. I also cleaned the bathroom, washed the rugs, and towel that were in there today. Apparently this didn't help anything because he keeps coming in there and opening the window. The window is right next to the front door and in view of the front yard. It makes it very uncomfortable to have it open because everyone is coming in and out of the house at all times of the day. It also lets all kinds of bugs in that can get through the screen. I talked to the landlord about getting something to absorb the moisture. He said to save my money and just open the window. He said if it is left open for a day the smell will go away for a day and then come back the next. I just don't get why all of a sudden this is a problem and he feels the need to come in and meddle with the window. It feels very invasive to me that he keeps coming in there. Even when I close the door. I have no way of locking the bathroom from the outside only from the inside. It just sounds like a problem that can't just be fixed by leaving the window open. I shouldn't have to keep closing it every time I want to take a shit, piss, or use the shower. I tried talking to other people about this and posted on Facebook. Some people were siding with the landlord saying he is in the right, to comply with him, etc. He never spoke to my roommate and I about it. He never sent out a text. He just took it upon himself to open the window without saying why. I feel like if he's that concerned about possible damage to the house from mold he should say so. He never said "hey guys somehing smells funky in there you better go check it out." I don't know what to do. I tried talking to him and he just seems set in his ways about it. I tried remedying the situation and he wants to keep opening the window. I left it open just a crack but he wants it open all the way. I know it may seem pretty minor to you but if you had a landlord coming into your personal space and opening a window I think you would be mad too. Especially when they didn't say anything to you before and they keep insisting that it stays open.
