Bay Area CA - so this is a very different and challenging area of the USA for this type of work. Would greatly appreciate any other Bay Area landlords, as we do have such a unique landscape....
My Q: I require my tenants to buy renter's insurance; however, is there a way for me to have them 'sign' over this duty and I ( as the landlord ) could then purchase on their behalf?
Two reasons for doing this: 1) simplification/I know that they have this and (2) could be a 'nice' to have offering.
I know that in prior jobs I had, my employer's life insurance was basically them taking a policy on my behalf and others - with the actual payout being a set amount - and not the amount of the actual policy.
So is there a legal manner/form that would allow a tenant to 'sign' over this to me? Thanks.
