To preface this… I just had an accident that totaled out my fully loaded 2010 Ford Edge that I loved with all my heart. I’ve always wanted a Land Rover or Range Rover but ive heard horror stories about repairs and issues.
I needed a car quickly and shopped around a lot. I needed something under $17k (for the time being) and wanted features plus under 100k miles. I drove a 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE and loved it immediately. It’s well taken care of, spotless, and had everything I wanted and more. Not to mention including lane monitoring and collision avoidance. It has 90,000 miles on it, serviced religiously by the prior two owners, and was 16k which seems around average for these.
Now initially I had second thoughts but it seems most people with this specific model have really enjoyed the suv and say it’s reliable. I also took the religious maintenance into account for how it’s been taken care of. So my big question….is this going to be a story of love or regret? I will not finalize everything and pick it up until Monday. I’ve signed paperwork and it may be too late but I’m just wanting opinions. I know I probably need to keep a few thousand for a rainy day with this vehicle regardless.
Also any tips and tricks as far as this vehicle goes? Like features I may overlook or hidden things? Lastly, the prior owner had the lane assist and other features off. There is also no sound coming from them when I cut them on in my brief test drive. How do I turn everything on and get the notifications/beeps to work?
Thank you in advance!
Also have a 2016 discovery Sport. Very similar mileage and price.
We’ve had a few issues with it. I’m not convinced our previous owner was as meticulous on servicing.
The worst to happen was the turbo blew completely whilst my wife was out with the kids.
Now the suspension has gone this week. Be warned, the global issue with car parts is particularly bad for Landrover at the moment. We have no date at all for the part needed to fix the car. So it’s currently completely off the road.
We were really lucky, the dealer that sold us the car pushed a two year coverage plan on us. I was a bit skeptical about it but it’s covered everything that’s happens in its first year.
They’re not perfect. And this definitely has given us more trouble than any other car I’ve owned. But I still love it.
