Trouble with group
Post Body

Hey, so I’m fairly new to Lancer and it’s entire story. I mean, I’ve watched plenty of lore videos and how to play guides, but still a newbie in a sense. Anyway, I talked with my D&D group about possibly branching out and trying to run a campaign in Lancer. I got a mixed signs about what my group wants to do. One half wants to try it, but the other half doesn’t really like Hard Sci-Fi settings like this, which I completely understand. But they said they’d try it and see how it goes. Cut to 2 weeks later. I got, what I think, is a great intro to a wider campaign I have planned out. I’m both nervous and excited to play. When I finally get to our usual hangout, only got about 3 members there, and one of them decides to leave and hangout with his other friends. So in short, we just ended up playing MTG until the end of session. This has really bummed me out, and is making me think that we should just go back to D&D instead if there is just this little interest in playing this game. I don’t know. Am I just overreacting to this? Maybe you guys have any thoughts on this? Should I look or set up another group for this game? I live in a fairly small town, so options are limited for players. Perhaps some ways to make my current group more interested in playing?

Edit; Now that I had some time to think about it a bit. I just realized how much of a bunch of hypocrites they are. One of the members is planning on running a Shadowrun campaign, and we’re currently going through a Warhammer 40k campaign. So they’re not against sci-fi games, but as soon as they saw it was a d6 system, most if not all interest was lost. God forbid we use something besides the d20 system, even though Lancer also uses a d20. It’s so stupid!

Update: I had a long talk with my group about this incident. They profusely apologized for what they did, and we’re planning a new first session later on. Still got a few other D&D campaigns we need to get through until we can try my game. I’m completely okay with this, and it gives me more time to fine tune my campaign. I want to thank everyone who messaged me about this and gave their advice and support. This is truly great fandom. 🥰
