Don't know how people feel about it here, but I certainly do know that I'm not reassured about such a way to make stories disappear. Not much different than burning books, when one thinks of it. That makes three titles removed from omnibuses that were advertised as being the most ultimate complete edition of the whole. Hell, the Alien ones even finished stories that were left unpublished!
While I agree one cannot dispute some of the scenes in there were brushing sensible / edgy topics... I thought that was what the darn "Negative Depiction Warning" at the beginning of the books was for! Furthermore, it seems unreasonable to me to censor a story about generations spanning alien relationships just because it touches historically less palatable eras... A Yautja comes to war torn places to hunt warriors. Seems to me like "unpalatable" is part of the idea here.
Especially for stories such as "Race War" and "Hell Come A-Walkin'" which, in the end, are about how ludicrous such stereotypes are in front of the true nature of survival. Of their time, yes... But deserving to be forgotten despite being a part of the road toward the current "enlightened" idea that "everyone should join forces and work together as equals"? That's Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal all over again.
Can't people just enjoy golden era comics in peace anymore? What is progress if it doesn't allow us to contemplate how better we have become?
Or are we really at the point where shadow-banning books is not only accepted, but desirable? How do you all feel about this? Does this attitude makes anyone else nervous about Marvel / Disney's plans for AVP?
