How does memory work when tripping

Post Body

When I’m tripping on a full tab, my memory is like a goldfish. I usually can’t finish the sentence I started because I forgot what I was trying to say.

Interestingly, after the trip, I remember the entire experience, including the struggles of trying to complete a specific sentence. So it makes me wonder that, even though short-term memory doesn’t work during the trip, you do retain long-term memory. I find this surprising.

Can anybody explain what is actually happening in our brain?
