Post Body

I got a 155 today, this was my first time taking the LSAT and it was lower then what I was scoring on my PT. I’m planning on retaking the LSAT in February. I’ll be honest and say when I first saw my score I started bawling my eyes out and bagging my head against the walls. I felt like an idiot, loser and failure. However once my initial 1 hour mental breakdown passed I started planning. I can’t change what I got, but I can change what I’ll do moving forward and adjust accordingly.

Also I’m not going to be canceling my score. I rather have the law schools see it rather than have the guess about how bad it is. What would you do in my case?

My one recommendation for future LSAT takers is that if you are planning on going to Law school straight from undergrad is to take your first LSAT early. I’m currently in my junior year thus I’ll be only apply to Law school next fall. By taking the LSAT now I am able to give my myself enough time to retake without rushing my cycle or balancing LSAT study and admissions.

Another advice if you want to go to law school and you enjoy the law the you should pursue it even if your life circumstances are against. I’m a 20 year old run away in NYC who has to balance both working 40-50 hour work weeks and 6 college class, thus I was only able to prep for my LSAT for only a month. However I love the law and it’s my dream to be a big fancy hotshot lawyer one day ever since 7th grade and even though today I felt like a failure I still believe I can do it. Because I genuinely love every part of the law even the most annoying mundane things, I enjoy it more than anything else.

I really want to tell every single one of you I’m proud you did something that most people aren’t able to go through. You sat down you studied and you took the exam and no matter what your score is if you gave it your all whatever that means to you that is enough to be impressed. Even though I got a 155 and I was upset I am in the 57th percentile meaning I did better then the avg test taker, and even though I will retake I am happy to take the small victory because this is only the first step and it won’t be a smooth sailing road.

Success isn’t an exponential line up, there will be rises and falls. However, that’s not what measures your success. Only your determination and desire can measure that. It doesn’t matter if you got a 170 or 135 because what’s most important is to keep moving forward. Don’t get stuck in the bad or the good. Because just like over focusing on your losses can hinder your progress, over concentrating on victories will also do you no good. Most importantly don’t get comfortable with yourself or your situation because the moment you get comfy is the moment you stop growing.

Best of luck to everyone with their cycle and their exams. I wish you all the best on your journey!
