1. Meeting introduction, guidelines
Business as usual. Confirmed that the required numbers of Council and residents were present, so the meeting is legal and official.
2. Judges decision
After reviewing the applications that came, Council has decided to appoint the following upstanding and fair-minded citizens as the first round of judges in the Dunes:
- Darbooma
- Greco
- MrIMineHard
We don't currently have a courthouse, so trial proceedings will be held creatively until the guild plot facilities are built. If need be, Han (the keeper of the courthouse in Southshire) has offered his assistance.
Now, judge terms usually align with Council terms, because one of each new Council's first responsibilities will be to appoint any new judges. That will make this a very short first term, so we will see what happens next week.
3. Council elections next weekend
#DunesVotes! Next weekend, February 21-22, is the next round of Council elections! As soon as it's ready, the reddit post for candidates will be linked from here. The general process will be this:
- Sunday (Feb 15) through Friday
- People who want to run for Council comment in the Council Elections post
- Residents of the Dunes read all the comments and, ideally, try to meet the candidates in-game to get to know them or ask questions
- Election officials are chosen from outside the district to ensure that everything is handled fairly
- Friday
- The ballot is created on Google forms
- Friday night or Saturday morning
- The official "go vote now!" post will be made on this subreddit with the link and instructions
- Saturday and Sunday (Feb 21-22)
- Everyone votes!
- Monday
- Election officials collect and confirm the voting results
- Results are posted on this subreddit (hopefully Monday, but depends on election officials' schedules!)
4. Conflict with Templars
There has been increasing tension between the Templars and the Dunian citizens, with the Templars deciding they should enforce Lords' Laws within the Dunes, without fair trial and certainly without jurisdiction. Because they have no right to act in an official capacity in the Dunes, please report any such activity to the Dunes Task Force officers. The DTF is the only organization that has authority/jursidiction in the Dunes.
Note also that the Templars appear to be recruiting new members, as reported by jamhalo. This means that we might well expect there to be more encounters ahead. However, in a recent incident, on February 13, their leader KobyKing assured nmjk that the Templars would no longer attempt to act in, or enter, the Dunes. We earnestly hope they will abide by this decision.
Please also be aware that while the Templars got their start in Brickton, the Brickton Elders do not approve of their actions or endorse them in any way. The Templars should be considered to only coincidentally exist in Brickton, and do not represent the district.
We want this to be a peaceful situation. We recommend against instigating anything with any Templars. Do report anything to the DTF as soon as possible, though.
5. Cross-district Hoedown reminder
The 7th Official Hoedown will take place on Sunday, February 22! We need to submit the names of two champions to represent the Dunes by February 20. If you're interested in fighting to show what the Dunes are made of, make sure to comment on this post!!
6. Naming the bridges
A yesterday's Barrens 13 Council meeting, the question of naming the bridges between the Dunes and Barrens was brought up. The other bridges, located only in the Barrens, were recently named (Cactus Bridge, George, Sp00ky (Invisible) Bridge, and Petra Bridge), and we'd all like to see the 6 bridges that connect us have names, too!
A number of great names have already been suggested, including:
- Portal Bridge
- Beaver Bridge (or Beaver Crossing)
- Stanley Bridge
- Jeff Bridge
- Phoenix Bridge
- Lava Bridge
- Queen's Bridge
- Suspense Bridge
- Silk Bridge
A reddit post will be made this week to get more input, ideas, and to vote on your favourites!
7. Entrepreneur of the Week
This week's Entrepreneur of the Week is vigilantecow, owner of the Bovine Dentistry, in Southwest Red 3, at x:420, z:615. He also wins a 7 gold bar award! Make sure to stop by and have your teeth checked out!
Want to know how you can be eligible for Entrepreneur of the Week?
Due to very few new businesses being listed in the Business Catalogue, Entrepreneur of the Week will only be included in future Council Meetings if new businesses are listed in the catalogue.
8. Builder of the Week
TheFattestCow's Mansion at Southwest Yellow 3, at x:395, z:615. He also wins a 5 gold bar award! Make sure to stop by and check out the build!

9. Announcements
- DrLolzworth: Sadly, Singles Awareness Day (SAD) has been rescheduled for Monday, February 16, due to real estate difficulties. Brickton's Roamintine's Festival is still scheduled for Sunday, February 15, though! Make sure to take in some of the exciting events.
- vK_InFaMy: Starting this week, the Entrepreneur of the Week and Builder of the Week books will be available on the bookshelves on the lower level of the palace! Head down the staircase to the left of the throne (when facing it) to find the bookshelves.
- DrLolzworth: There's also a book of maps available in the same bookshelves, with wonderful images of the maps of the Dunes and Barrens, and links to both of the map websites. Hopefully you will never be lost again!
- Heresy: Heresy is the new caretaker of the Dunes Welcome Center (East Yellow 4). In order to purchase advertisement space in the Welcome Center, please contact Heresy, or Bradleys_Double!

11. Q&A
Q: How has the Welcome Center been working out for everyone?
A: Various answers, including:
- "It's lovely, a great addition to the Dunes"
- "It is a really nice addition to the Dunes. I like the building, and it seems pretty helpful. :)"
- "I noticed Brickton also opened a welcome center after the success of ours"
Q: Now that we a have a judicial system, what should we do about things like the right to attorney, or district-appointed defense attorneys? (rephrased)
A: There are probably quite a number of things that we'll be learning and figuring out as we get up and running with court trials. Any ideas that can help the Dunes plan ahead, however, are most welcome! Emmia has created a post on the reddit to start the discussion, so that more people can add their input too.
Questions? Corrections?
Please let me know! And watch for the meeting/agenda post for next week's meeting, coming soon.
