When this post is 10 minutes old (7pm eastern), there is an emergency Dunes Council Meeting taking place at 660, 450 (Dankey Land Basement).
All residents of Dunes are requested to come.
On December 2, between 7pm and 7:40pm, Dunes Council (represented by nmjk, Cadrienk, AnvilFrost, and Zarishendu), with 7 additional Dunes residents and a number of observers, met in response to the day's unusual events: Vetches_ being taken captive by Redacted, at Queen Shay's Palace, a result of a bounty being placed on her head (and Yakurbe's) by Lord Willakers.
The Dunes was lacking some important laws, whose absence was noted at at Saturday's normal Council meeting. By virtue of our constitution, Dunes Council has the right to set laws, but must do so at a Council Meeting, with the people's approval.
The following laws were passed on an emergency basis.
Law | In favour | Opposed | Abstained |
---|---|---|---|
1. Murder is against the law. | 10 | 0 | 0 |
2. Involuntary slavery, kidnapping, and hostage-holding are against the law. | 10 | 0 | 0 |
3. Assault against another person is against the law. | 11 | 0 | 0 |
4. Theft of personal property (not including buying/trading contexts) is against the law. | 11 | 0 | 0 |
Penalties for breaking these laws
At present the Desert Task Force still has law enforcement authority in the Dunes. The penalties for breaking the new laws are, roughly, as reported in the DTF's Laws document.
Approval to proceed with this method of law enforcement was passed, with a vote of 7-0. (By this point several people had had to leave.)
Next Steps
The official, final wording of the laws will be presented at Saturday's normal Dunes Council meeting.
