As the title says, I cannot pull down notification bar in portrait mode.
It does work in landscape mode.
To troubleshoot, I turned on "Show touches" in Developer Options.
The result is that I see touch points everywhere excepting that section of the screen (i.e. where the notification bar should be at the top of the device in portrait orientation).
I did recently drop the device hard enough to crack the plastic bezel just above and between the self facing camera and the sensor directly to the right of the camera.
However, there does not appear to be any damage to the display or digitizer. And I really don't believe that this problem started immediately thereafter (but I'll admit that I could be wrong).
It seems very curious to me that it is so precise in this area where it receives no input. It stops exactly at the border of the notification bar and uniformly across the breadth of the screen.
The device is just over a year old and I don't think it has any warranty coverage.
Can anyone venture any educated guesses as to what the problem may be, and what will be involved with any fix?
TIA for any response.
P.S.
I have rebooted. I have removed the battery and held the power button and replaced the battery. Both to no result.
If it makes a difference, the device is a D852.
