Hindi language and using it in a gender-neutral way

Post Body

I'm a cis straight male and recently connected with a trans person. While talking, it was easy to properly address them using their pronouns when using English to communicate.

Where it became interesting was when we started switching to Hindi and Hinglish. That's when I had to confirm what they preferred to be addressed as in Hindi to make sure there was no issue going forward.

Coming to the point, as Indians living here, what's the discourse on gendering in Hindi (and other regional languages)? By it's nature, it's a bit challenging to keep it completely neutral like it is possible in English.

Want to get opinions as well as any kind of reading material to better educate myself on this.
