What does the group braintrust think about English style hedgerows for LEED credit in the US for new construction in urban and suburban settings? How would you calculate its value? Based on my research they provide carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat, can be planted so they require no irrigation once established, and also aid surface water to percolate into the soil. Other attributes are acting as a windbreak, edible (animals or human) berry and nut production, and are best maintained by hand without gas powered equipment.
