Can I get some help going from inspiration to reality?

I have a picture of a DND 5E character that I really want to create for a halloween or larp character, but I'm having difficulty really nailing pieces down. Could some of you all show your inspiration/reality side by side? The biggest part I am having trouble with is the leather armor from the picture I use as his character portrait. It is a cuirass with studs, almost a roman style, but not quite. Any suggestions are welcome, and I can post a picture if it is allowed.
