Dear r/laclippers, I was born in the LA area when Shaq and Kobe began winning titles together, and therefore was raised by my family as a Lakers fan. However, as I have grown from a nephew into a man, I have decided to make a decision for myself - to become a Clippers fan (if you will accept me as one of your own). My reasons for wanting to hop ship are as follows: 1. I value a top-notch organizational culture in a team. Teams like the Spurs and the Jazz have impressed me with how great the culture around those organizations are. The Clippers, now that Steve Ballmer has put a great FO in place, have joined those ranks as a top-tier organization. 2. I like straying from the norm. LA is no doubt a Lakers town. The Clippers are the underdogs, and who doesn’t love a good underdog story? The Clippers are much more endearing and easy to root for, in no small part due to 3. Clippers fans are better than Lakers fans. This is entirely anecdotal, but every Clippers fan I’ve met has been super nice. Lakers fans tend to be braggy and overly-confident. When the ESPN article dropped about how messy the Lakers’ FO is (which was one of the final straws for me), I supported the article, whereas many other Lakers fans blindly defended the team anyways. 4. Patrick Beverly’s Twitter game is fire. 5. Jerry West is a legend. 6. As a poor college student, I can afford tickets to Clippers games (even though they’re about to increase this year) 7. Montrezl Harrell is super underrated. 8. I like Kawhi.
Overall, i’m super impressed with what this organization has become. If you will have me, I’d love to support them. -Dvask
Edit: you all are too nice. Thanks for accepting me into the Clippers family.
