I lived in kuwait for 16 years and moved to the west in 2019. It was very easy for me to make new friends especially arabs, as they would be surprised how I knew a little bit of Arabic as a Pakistani. However, when I told them I spent my childhood in Kuwait they would literally take a 180° turn and say why am i not fluent in it 😂.
I went to an Indian school most of my life, wasn’t interested in learning arabic nor were my parents really keen on making us learn the language. All my friends were mostly Pakistani or Indian, and the arab friends I had that lived in my building were the ones learning english from me 💀. This is the only regret i have because I know I would have picked the language up if I put in the effort. I moved to a french speaking city and learned the language fluently within 2 and a half years, I can only Imagine how good my arabic would have been. I already speak 5 languages yet want to add this one to the list.
So anyone living in kuwait especially kids and teenagers who have free time on their hands, learn the language. I promise, you will not regret it.
p.s Enjoy the food you get to eat in kuwait. lowkey miss that the most, even more than my extended family and best friends.
