I didn't mind the ever after in volume 16 because i saw it as we were veiwing this world along with D, so since she is done with this world so are we. Thinking like that, not having an in world epilogue made sense. though one complaint I really had is that if they were gonna end those characters stories that way, they should have done full art pages with text blocks at the bottom similar to the Stat block pages we used to get with monsters. It would have given us one last chance to see every one drawn and for character who actually had lives maybe even aged up. For a final volume it seems lazy just to write it out as it was. Even if you want to save space, some of the characters could share pages(ariel/sariel, the vampires, the demons, the dragons, etc)
