Please Advise On Rental Matter
Post Body

Hi,

I moved into this co-living space that was cheap and near where I needed to be. Things were fine but now I'm thinking I am being scammed.

I signed an agreement for a year 550RM per month everything included except for electricity.

Now they have increased my rent to almost 600 RM stating that there is more tax now and that first the company was paying the tax but since it has increased I will need to pay it. So its now 550 tax but before that it was 550 only.

When I joined laundry was free but now they have implemented a payment system. So I have to pay for the washing machine and dryer in the common area.

A couple of my stuff was stollen from the common area kitchen and when I complained they told me to file a police report.

I was also away from KL and someone broke into my room and stole some stuff. They left the lights on which consumed a lot of electricity since I was away for about 45 days. There are cameras in the building but the management didn't bother looking into it and just said to file a police complain.

They are also not letting me leave and saying that if I do leave then they will not refund my deposit. Furthermore, I asked if I could shift to the room next to mine since it was available and had a window. The manager asked me to pay 200 RM as a transfer fee which seemed like a lot of money just to move to the room next to me. So I refused.

Let me know if there is some way in which I can negotiate and get my deposit back.
