Okay, so here's the rundown. For those of you who aren't familiar with Jesse's "colorful" history:

• disingenuous science writer

• regularly came on KiA in bad faith to poke the hive, and run off to tell his friends how awful those "darn grumblegramblies" are

• believed 100% other people's claims about being harassed, and 100% bought the story we're all monstrous women-haters.

• writes several posts to reinforce the narrative, along with self-fellating "gaters, amirite fellow warriors of justice?" posts on Twitter

Got it? Good.

Jesse writes an article about how the trans* movement is fundamentally at odds with the science and psychology behind the phenomena of gender dysphoria and its related topics. After publishing, Jesse came under fire [to the surprise of no one] by said members of the trans* movement for apparently being transphobic. Jesse defends himself.

Mistake.

Twitter user and Riot Games employee ArchivestBecks throws in their ten cents. Jesse rebukes them. Becks then proceeds to tell their followers that Jesse has decided to point a harassment mob at them. Jesse checks their mentions and sees no such harassment. He defends himself.

Mistake.

People tell him to apologize. He insists he did nothing wrong because he did, in fact, do nothing wrong.

Mistake.

It comes to a head, and Jesse begins going on a blocking-spree to get away from the rabid followers coming at him, while asking if Becks was a troll, and calling out the duplicitous nature of the people he's dealing with.

Mistake.

Jesse experiences in an hour what GamerGate has been experiencing for two years. These people were smart and interesting to him when they were shitting on other people, but NOW THAT THEY'RE SHITTING ON HIM...

It's doubtful if he'll reflect on this, since his ego kind of depends on being always right. And lord knows he'll never admit that we were ever right about the dubious nature of some harassment claims, and the subsequent reaction to them.

BONUS: Jesse mistakes us reveling in this cosmic irony as advocacy, when really we're just enjoying the show.
