Case:
A monk asked Hyakuj么, "What is a matter of extraordinary wonder?" Hyakuj么 said, "Sitting alone on Daiy没 Peak." The monk made a deep bow. Hyakuj么 thereupon hit him.
Verse:
In the realm of the patriarch, the heavenly colt gallops freely.
The way he rolls up and unrolls in instructing people is not ordinary indeed.
In the flash of lightning, in the spark from flint lies an outstanding activity.
How interesting!
The man is come to stroke the tiger's whiskers.
Notes:
Daiy没: the name of the mountain, where Hyakujo's monastery was located.
This is one of the twenty-one Cases in the Hekiganroku that are not supplied with an Instruction.
